'it was as I saw her in the Barrow Docks about 1950/1 on completion by Vicker-Armstrongs prior to sailing for her home port and maiden voyage

She ran regularly to Australia and South Africa and undertook short cruises from Southampton or Sydney

She was eventually launched in 1918 but did not enter service until 1920
