Gift of the Sea II Christmas it was sent back toInspired by the Ama, (meaning women of the sea), who are amazing Japanese Pearl divers. They specialize in free diving up to 25 meters down in cold water, without using oxygen tanks or other breathing equipment. Ama use special techniques to hold their breath for up to 2 minutes at a time. They gather oysters, abalone and other shellfish using traditional, sustainable methods.
